How to Choose the Right Lipstick?

No woman can live without lipstick. It is perhaps the most used cosmetic used for

decoration. The right lipstick can add to your appeal and make you irresistible. However, an incorrect choice can spell disaster for your outlook. You must choose your lipstick very carefully.

Firstly, know your skin tone and your lips. Different lipsticks suit different skin colors and tones. For example, darker shades like purple can look good on dark skin but should be avoided by tan skinned women. Similarly, women with very light skin are advised to choose lighter colors and even nudes.

However, if that is too much trouble for you here is a rule of thumb: wear lipsticks that are not very different from the natural color of your lips! It can be a few shades different but too much difference is reserved for only the bold and experimental ones. To find out if the tone is similar to your lip color, apply the lipstick to one of your lips and then compare the difference in color of both your lips. There should be little difference in the shades.

However, slightly different shades can be either darker or lighter than your natural color. Here is another rule of thumb that can help you decide: If you want your lips to look fuller and plumper, try lighter shades. If you would rather have them look thinner and crisper, you can go ahead and but the darker shades.

Also, make sure that you try out the lipstick in as much light as you can. Trying lipstick when you have put up a lot of makeup can lead to mistakes as you would be matching your lipstick color with the shades of your makeup instead of your natural skin color. Finally, take a second opinion, if possible from a friend or from the person behind the counter.
